The Guinness Book of Antiques

$110.00

This Guinness Book of Antiques covers the world of antiques with a very wide-ranging treatment of the subject. The Author has gone well beyond the bounds of what was once regarded as the area of antiques by purists, that is from the medieval period to 1850, to cover subjects of interest to collectors.

He believes that there can be a force of mutual harmony between the craftsmen who create items and the collector or viewer of these antiques.

For each subject the Author gives the key facts that will assist the collector and shows the development of methods, materials and design as well as discussing the influence of the leading people associated with these over the years.

There is a list of the most important galleries and museums around the world from that time as well as markets and auction rooms where antiques may be found.
